Our Kindergarten through Grade 2 program lays a strong foundation in core subjects— Religion, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies—through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
Religion
Students grow in the Catholic faith through daily lessons that nurture kindness, honesty, forgiveness, and compassion. Using the Christ Our Life series, they learn foundational prayers, moral decision-making, and Bible stories. Students celebrate the liturgical seasons, attend Mass and prayer services, and engage in outreach and chapel visits with the Sisters of Notre Dame. In second grade, they prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion through classroom lessons and meaningful faith experiences.
English Language Arts
Students build strong literacy skills through the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum and an engaging, movement-based approach to phonics and early reading. They progress from letter recognition and sound patterns to reading comprehension, vocabulary, and story analysis. Small and whole group instruction supports diverse learning needs. Students also develop writing skills through lessons in spelling, grammar, and penmanship, learning to organize and express their ideas clearly and confidently.
Math
Students build a strong math foundation through hands-on, engaging activities using the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum. They explore number sense, addition and subtraction, geometry, measurement, time, money, and early data concepts. Manipulatives, story problems, technology, and collaboration make learning meaningful.
Science
Students explore the natural world through hands-on experiments and outdoor learning. Topics include the five senses, plants, animals, weather, Earth’s resources, life cycles, energy, and motion. An inquiry-based approach fosters curiosity, observation, and critical thinking skills.
Social Studies
Students build social skills and a sense of community. They learn about citizenship, economics, geography, history, and culture through lessons, activities, and field trips. Emphasis is placed on respect, responsibility, and understanding how actions impact others, preparing students to be caring, active members of society.
